| These were pictures taken while working on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas May 2005. I fell in love with this island on this trip. The people are so freindly and everything is spread out so nicely. Seclusion is only minutes away in any direction. And by a blessing from God we discovered the "best kept secret in the Bahamas". The POC for our job had made arrangements for us to stay at a place called Surfers Beach Manor. Located directly in between the two towns we were working in (Governers Harbour and North Eleuthera) but out in the middle of nowhere. It was perfect! A small little 12 room motel situated on high ground about a half mile from the beach. And what an awesome beach it is! The rooms are very clean, modern and new since the motel has only been open a couple of years. It is run by a wonderful and very freindly lady name Floydia (pictured behind front desk) and her father. They have a sweet little bar and an excellent resturant that serves fine food at fast food prices. I recommend the fried shrimp! There is nothing around for miles except plenty of beautiful beach and some decent surf. It was actually crazy to see surf like this in the Bahamas and this was a fairly calm season while we were visiting. I can't imagine what these waves look like during a storm passing by! Anyway, be careful and never surf alone in this area because it is very rocky. Make sure to ask Floydia's father for tips on surfing there. He knows the surf and can give you details on the dangerous spots. I love this place and highly recommend it to those who love seclusion but not total seclusion. For a honeymoon or fast lane tension breaking vacation I could not think of a better place to go. I think about it often and can't wait to get back there again! Hope you enjoy the pictures.
